ANXIETY-FREE VISITS

IV SEDATION

Nobody likes pain, and few people enjoy going to the dentist. But if you suffer from dental phobia or require extensive dental work, you should consider the benefits of seeing the sedation dentist at our New York office.

I.V. sedation dentistry is a miracle for anyone who fears dentists and discomfort. It allows you to get the care your smile needs without pain or anxiety.

Is Sedation Dentistry Right For Me?
  • You've had a bad experience at the dentist.
  • You dread going to the dentist for any reason.
  • You have difficulty keeping your mouth open.
  • You need a lengthy or invasive treatment.
How I.V. Sedation Dentistry Works

Our New York sedation dentist, Dr. Joseph Zelig, will use a combination of sedatives and pain relievers given intravenously to place you in a state of complete relaxation and comfort. Your whole dental procedure will be over before you know it, usually with no memory of what happened during your treatment.

Most other dentists who offer "sedation" have minimal training and can only provide their patients with a pill 1-2 hours before their appointment. However, the results are unpredictable, often providing a very light sedation. Here at Smile in the City, we use the most advanced form of sedation dentistry known as Intravenous Conscious Sedation. Its benefits far outweigh those of other methods such as oral sedation:

  • I.V. sedation is more reliable and the effects are immediate.
  • It allows the dentist to administer the exact right amount of sedation.
  • Your recovery will be quicker than with oral sedation.
  • More training is required to be certified in I.V. sedation so you'll be in the hands of a very experienced dentist.
Sedation For Cosmetic Dentistry, Too

Not only is sedation dentistry useful when undergoing procedures like extractions, implants and root canals, but now you can get that smile makeover you've always wanted. Sedation dentistry can be used when undergoing cosmetic procedures like porcelain veneers and crowns. It will seem like only an instant has gone by and you'll wake up with a new look.

So if you're one of the many who put off going to the dentist, you can finally have your dental work performed in a relaxing environment minus the fear and pain. And leave with a glowing smile on your face!
